Wishing to brighten the mood amid the pandemic and hoping for it to be controlled soon, a video art event was held at the Waterside Music Hall, an outdoor stage in Ueno Park, in Tokyo on Wednesday evening.

The event was planned by shopkeepers in Ueno to express their gratitude to medical personnel fighting COVID-19 and their hope for the revitalization of the neighborhood.

The 90-minute "Peace of Light" show featured colorful images evoking abstract paintings projected in the hall beside Shinobazu Pond.

The images were created by superimposing about a million works drawn by digital video artist Akira Hasegawa and displayed using his Digital Kakejiku installation made up of about 30 projectors.

A shakuhachi performance was among the special collaborations that created a fantasy-like mood amid the multicolored setting.

The livestreamed event was held with no spectators to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections.
