Add Landon Collins to the Jimmy Moreland Fan Club in Washington

It seems pretty safe to say that you can add Washington Redskins’ safety Landon Collins to the Jimmy Moreland fan club.

After both served as newcomers to the Redskins in 2019 — Collins through free agency, and Moreland via a seventh-round pick in the NFL Draft — the two defensive backs were able to work alongside each other for good chunks of time during 2019, and it has them set up for a nice working relationship in the future. While little was expected from Moreland — or ‘The People’s Corner’ as ESPN’s John Keim successfully nicknamed him — the rookie out of James Madison University was extremely impressive in his first NFL season, earning a load of playing time by season’s end. Now going into his second year, Moreland has a chance to stake out his share of the defensive snaps going forward.

Moreland finished the season with 42 tackles and four passes defended in five starts with the Redskins, and like Collins said, he had his fair chance at a few interceptions as well. That production will come with experience, as the young DB learns to trust the skill that he showed in his first year, and pretty soon the sporting world at large will know about The People’s Corner.
