Add Carson Wentz to list of QBs that Washington might try to trade for

Another day, another quarterback added to the list of players who we might see the Washington Football Time try to trade for this offseason to fulfill their needs of finding a long-term future quarterback.

Wentz, who has been regarded as one of the top up-and-coming QBs in the NFL over the past several years, had a tough 2020 season and was ultimately benched for rookie Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia after a poor Eagles season got worse. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the Eagles are now listening to trade offers for Wentz, though they don’t ultimately plan on dealing him away.

So the question is, would the Eagles really trade Wentz to Washington, and would Washington really call about him? I think the answer to the latter half of that question is yes — Ron Rivera and his staff know how important the QB position is, and there’s a belief that some new scenery could be helpful for the former almost-MVP passer. However, if Philly could avoid giving one of their rivals the missing piece to be successful in the long run, I’m sure they’d be happy.

Depending on what Washington ultimately offered, and how serious the Eagles got about trading Wentz, there could be some smoke here, but until further notice, I don’t think we need to do too much digging here.
