Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd asks its consumers to be vigilant against online frauds

MUMBAI: Adani Electricity Mumbai has requested its power consumers not to share personal or bank details on phone or through any online mode.

"Adani Electricity strives to ensure that electricity bill payments are only through the company’s secure payment gateways. However, it has come to our notice that, several cases of online frauds are duping unsuspecting citizens. The Fraudsters pose as Call centre executives of electricity distribution company and/or send fake offers through SMS / e-Mail asking consumers to download mobile apps or click on fraudulent links," said an official statement.

After asking to download apps or click on such links the fraudsters hijack personal information including bank details to carry out fraudulent transactions on bank account, the release pointed out.

As a responsible service provider, we appeal to citizens not to entertain such calls or click on such links. Company or our associates or representative will never share such payment links or ask for OTP or any bank details from you.

We further appeal to citizens to be alert while communicating on phone with such fraudulent callers and make power bill payment only through company’s secured payment gateway, it's stated.

An AEML Spokesperson said, “Number of online frauds being reported are on the rise. To avoid falling prey to these phishing calls, emails and sms, we must be alert and vigilant before downloading or clicking on any link and especially if prompted to share our banking details / OTP.

For our consumers convenience, various mode of payment and other online services, are made available. AEML mobile APP offers range of services from bill payment to applying for change of name, among others. Consumers can also check their payment and consumption history through the app, said the release.

Customers can make their payments through Phone Pay, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM app, and other digital modes. Bill payment can be made on Adani Electricity website through Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, online VDS, RTGS / NEFT, RTGS / NEFT,

Consumers can connect with us on our WhatsApp for Business wherein consumers can opt to receive their bills on WhatsApp and can check their bills month on month, it added.
