Adams jokes he should check his phone more often in case he’s traded

With the NBA trade deadline taking place Thursday, many fans and even players were glued to social media constantly checking to see the latest moves by teams.

Except for Thunder center Steven Adams.

While the Thunder ultimately stood idle on Thursday, Adams jokingly told reporters after the team’s win against the Memphis Grizzlies that he should check his phone more often in case he is traded.

“I see [the rumors] every now and then, not throughout the day, this is after,” Adams said. “Then I think I’m real cool, like, ‘Look what happened.’ They are all like, ‘That was yesterday.’ I don’t check my phone often. I should; I might get traded. A day later, that would be awkward.”

Of course, Adams has established himself as one of the best big men in the league and is having his best season to date after averaging a career-high 15.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game so Adams was thought to be safe at the trade deadline.

We wouldn’t bet on Adams going anywhere anytime soon.
