Adama Traore to leave West Ham as nine stars released following Premier League relegation

Adama Traore is one of nine players to leave West Ham after the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

The Irons succumbed to the drop after Tottenham secured a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day to retain their top-flight status at the expense of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

It ended a 14-year stay in England’s top division, and questions were raised over whether head coach Nuno would remain in post next term.

It was confirmed by Standard Sport that the Portuguese would indeed stay put, but his clear-out has begun with nine stars departing.

Now, Adama, who arrived from London rivals Fulham in a cut-price deal in the January transfer window, will leave after an underwhelming spell of nine games and no goals.

Veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, formerly of Arsenal, will also depart after he was lured back to the club mid-season having previously left on a free last summer.

Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi will return to Stamford Bridge after his successful loan spell, where he quickly became a fans’ favourite in central defence alongside another former Arsenal man, Konsatinos Mavropanos.

The Frenchman made 17 appearances for the Irons across all competitions.

The five others to leave West Ham are youth players, with Michael Forbes, Junior Robinson, Tyron Akpata, Daniel Rigge, David Chigwada and Tom Wooster all set to depart upon the expiry of their contracts.

There is also uncertainty over multiple star names in the Hammers’ squad, with captain Jarrod Bowen and midfielder Mateus Fernandes among those to be linked with an exit.
