Adama Diakhaby to Nottingham Forest transfer latest: What we know, Huddersfield stance, reaction

Nottingham Forest look to be closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window.

Adam Diakhaby has emerged as a loan target for , with latest reports suggesting .

The 23-year-old Frenchman  has found his first-team chances at Huddersfield limited of late.

Here's all you need to know about Diakhaby and his potential arrival at the City Ground...

Does he fit the bill for Forest?

has been looking to bolster his attacking options in this window to ease the burden on Lewis Grabban up front.

Lamouchi admits it is not an easy thing to do at this time of the season.

“It is not only Nottingham Forest looking,” he said. “Many clubs are looking for a striker and to do a deal.

“But it is not easy to make a deal, so I am waiting, too.

“Of course it has been tough, because for quality players, it is not only us looking.

“There are a lot of clubs looking for strikers, wingers and quality players - on loan, to buy, contracts, club, agents, family, it is not easy.”

Forest have been linked with a string of strikers, including the likes of Dwight Gayle and Glenn Murray.

Diakhaby can operate up front, as well as on either wing, though has not exactly been prolific in terms of goals.

In his 31 appearances for Huddersfield, he has three assists but has yet to open his account for the Yorkshire club.

What is Huddersfield's stance?

Diakhaby has fallen out of favour since manager Danny Cowley’s arrival at Huddersfield.

He has been left out of the last nine Championship squads, after being involved in 18 of their first 19 league games.

It is understood that the player is no longer in Cowley’s plans and will be allowed to leave.

Our colleagues in Huddersfield at Examiner Live report: "News of interest in the player will come as music to the ears of Cowley , who indicated after the 0-0 draw with Brentford that any further business in the January transfer window would probably hinge of players leaving first, because Town have to balance the books and get full value for the budget at their disposal.

"Of the players 'unavailable' to Cowley over the past month, Reece Brown has gone out on loan to Peterborough and Terence Kongolo has left for Fulham, in a loan deal which Cowley indicated was financially favourable to the John Smith's Stadium club.

"Herbert Bockhorn, Isaac Mbenza and Diakhaby are the three players left with Town and still looking for moves."

Talking about possible departures earlier this month, Cowley said: “We are in a place where we have agreement as a football club and with (some) players that the best thing would be to find them football elsewhere.”

Who else wants him?

French club Amiens have been credited with an interest in Diakhaby - but Sky Sports has reported that a deal has been agreed for him to join Forest.

What are the fans saying?

There has been a mixed response on our Facebook page...

Tom Faulkner: Not done too much in the goalscoring department but as a winger might help with assists. Need genuine centre forward as well.

Neil Stevens: He is very quick! Probably use him on the wing.

Gareth Davies: If he’s as good as the last winger we signed from Huddersfield I won’t complain...

Lee Watson: Decent signing, if we were in a relegation battle.

Philip Tomlinson: Desperate springs to mind.

Andrew Parker: Reminds me of everybody’s reaction when we brought Lolley and Antonio.

Tom Martin: Out of favour Huddersfield winger doesn't exactly sound great, mind you Lolley was an out of favour Huddersfield winger. I'll reserve judgement.

Antony Michael Walton: Scraping the barrel with a last minute panic buy.

Tony Allen: Bring Tyler (Walker) back and let’s do it with home grown talent.

Simon Allin: Another attacking player who can’t score? Great!!!

Chester Beanhead: Clutching at straws now.

Sean Stokes: Who?

Lee Walker: Wasn’t Michael Antonio just an average championship winger when we signed him? Different manager, change of scene and he suddenly flourished... whatever happened to him?

Richard Richie Renshaw: No point can't get in the Huddersfield team so why do we want him..... Spend some money on the right players...

Chris Hayward: Doesn’t seem all that productive to me 18 games 3 assists and no goals. I could do that and I’m 66!
