Adam Vinatieri wants Pat McAfee in the ‘Monday Night Football’ booth

With Jason Witten coming out of retirement to rejoin the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN is looking for his replacement on “Monday Night Football” as the main color analyst.

The search will be wide with former players, but Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri knows exactly who should be the next man up in the booth: eccentric former Colts punter Pat McAfee.

The “Monday Night Football” crew didn’t garner many positive reviews during their first season working together. Sometimes bland, sometimes misinformed, the booth could use someone like McAfee.

With an electric personality, McAfee would bring plenty of juice to Monday night games, which would likely include the punters and kickers getting more airtime than is typical.

McAfee recently announced that he will be working for the media arm of the WWE, so it isn’t clear whether he would actually be able to work as a Monday night color analyst.

Regardless, Vinatieri’s thought process is in line with a lot of football fans. McAfee would be a wonderful addition to the Monday night crew.
