Adam Thomas teases Emmerdale return after three years with cryptic hint

Adam Thomas has excited fans after hinting at his potential return to Emmerdale after three years.

The 32-year-old, whose twin Scott appeared on 2016's Love Island and older brother Ryan starred as Jason in Corrie, played Adam Barton in the ITV soap from 2009 until 2018.

Over the years, Adam was involved in a number of action-packed and tragic storylines, including discovering that his uncle James was actually his dad and dealing with his sister Holly's death.

His half-brother Finn and dad were also murdered by his psychotic aunt Emma in an explosive storyline spanning over 2016 and 2017.

Adam escaped Emmerdale after confessing to Emma's murder in 2017 in order to save mum Moira, who had actually been the one to push the killer off the viaduct.

To stop him from going to prison, Aaron and Cain managed to ambush the prison van and broke him out of it.

The pair took him to the docks and gave him money and a fake passport, telling him that there was a cargo shop to take him to Amsterdam.

His character was later revealed to be living in Budapest and has met a girl, leaving Victoria heartbroken.

But it looks as though the estranged lovers could come head to head once again.

Adam tweeted yesterday: "Can't remember the last time I picked up a script... Time to get back."

The tweet sparked excitement from his ITV colleagues, with director Duncan Foster commenting: "Intriguing... x."

While actor Bhasker Patel, who plays Rishi, commented: "Coming Dales? By any chance! That laughter is well missed in Yorkshire! Oh and your Hugs! Out of this world! @emmerdale @itv."

Adam replied: "Awww mate I would love to see your face again x."
