Adam Thielen praises Vikings’ organization

Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen is a happy man.

And he should be after signing a four-year, $64 million extension.

When addressing the media for the first time since signing the extension, Thielen praised the Vikings’ organization for rewarding players who have put in the work with the franchise.

“It shows what type of organization this is. They’re not here to lowball people, they’re not here to take advantage of people,” Thielen said. “They want to reward the people that helped this football team win games, and ultimately they want to win games. That’s probably one of the biggest reasons that I want to be here for a long time, because I want to win games. I guess it just shows, it shows what this organization is about and how they treat their players and guys that may deserve to be here, and reward them for that.”

If there’s one thing Vikings GM Rick Spielman has done well, it’s been rewarding the players who have started as Vikings, such as Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Kyle Rudolph, Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter.

The Vikings certainly have an identity with keeping so many of their own players. We’ll see if it pays off with a Super Bowl ring eventually.
