Australian DJ and music producer Adam Sky has died in an accident on the Indonesian island of Bali, his representatives have said.

The 42-year-old, whose real name was Adam Neat, died at a beach resort on Sunday after trying to help an injured friend, according to a statement posted on his social media pages.

“Relatives and friends of Adam are travelling to Bali today and handling all arrangements,” the statement added. “We ask you to respect the family’s privacy at this moment while we all come to terms with our tragic loss.”

The Singapore-based based DJ was a “powerhouse” of the dance music scene in Asia, according to his website, and had worked with global stars including David Guetta and Afrojack.

Previously known by the stage name Modium, he also worked as a radio and podcast presenter.

Indonesian police have launched an investigation the circumstances behind his death, which is thought to have taken place at the Hillstone Villas Resort.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs said it was providing consular assistance to the family of a man who died in Bali, according to the Australian Associated Press. A spokesperson did not provide any further information.
