Adam Scott insists 'never been a better time' to be on PGA Tour amid LIV Golf war

Adam Scott has insisted there has 'never been a better time' to be a PGA Tour member, amid the ongoing saga surrounding the LIV Golf Series. A number of of golf's biggest names have made the controversial switch to the Saudi-backed series.

This includes a whole host of Australia's biggest names with Open champion Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman signing mega-money deals. Australia's involvement with LIV has been a big one, with the circuit's CEO Greg Norman arguably the greatest golfer to descend from Australian shores.

Despite this, not every big Aussie name is on board with 2013 Masters champion the glaring omission from the Saudi-backed series' playing quota.

As well as the likes of Norman and Smith's allegiances to LIV, Australia's connection to the breakaway circuit became even stronger this month after it was announced the series would be heading down under for an event in 2023. Whilst LIV has faced plenty of criticism, on the whole it seems to have been widely well received in Australia.

However, this feel good factor has not been enough to get one of their all-time greats in Scott on board, and the 42-year-old has reiterated this point at this week's Australian PGA Championship, after outlining his plans to remain a PGA Tour player.

Per Eurosport , he said: "I don't know that there's ever been a better time to be a member of the PGA Tour because all of a sudden there are these 13 elevated events that are at least double the money we've ever played for.” The Aussie star has already cemented himself as one of the greats of the modern game, winning 14 PGA Tour events, including the Masters.

And despite turning 42 earlier this year, Scott announced his intent to add to his glittering CV, including adding to his green jacket in winning all four major titles. He commented: "I don’t live in the States, but I’m going to spend way more time in the States next year to compete seriously. I can’t be flying all around the world playing against guys who don’t.”

“I guess I want to win all the majors, and that sounds like a lot, but really it’s three more events. It’s just got to be the right week. I have all the tools. I’m still very healthy. I’m still moving the golf ball well and I have a lot of experience, and I’m just trying to put it all together.

"I want to fulfil my dreams and goals as a player and time is less on my side now. I have to do everything I can to make sure I give myself the best chance. I still haven’t achieved all the things I want to achieve in my own career.”
