Adam Schefter thinks Broncos made best move of NFL offseason

The Denver Broncos traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for quarterback Joe Flacco in March and the move has received mixed reviews from fans and media members in Denver.

One member of the national media — ESPN’s Adam Schefter — thinks it was the best move in the NFL this offseason.

“You’re talking about a quarterback here who’s won a Super Bowl MVP [and] Denver was looking for an upgrade at the position,” Schefter said during an appearance on ESPN last week.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of coaches who believe — in their words — that Joe Flacco is a ‘steal.’ Now, again, if it can stay healthy, he’s going to have the arm strength to have a strong season in Denver.”

Schefter went on to point out that it’s a low-risk move for the Broncos because they only gave up a mid-round pick and they already have a potential QB of the future lined up behind Flacco.

“And guess what? If it doesn’t work out, they gave up a second-round pick for Drew Lock,” Schefter said. “So they’ve got Flacco for the short term, they’ve got Lock for the long term. I think Denver’s strengthened its quarterback position.”

Flacco hasn’t thrown more than 20 touchdown passes in a single season since 2014 but the Broncos believe he still has some production left in the tank. If he can stay healthy, Flacco could be poised to have a career rejuvenation in Rich Scangarello’s offense this season.
