Adam Peaty's girlfriend's telling 'curse' comment after Strictly 'kiss' as couple split

Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Peaty has announced his split with girlfriend Eiri Munro. The Olympian - who admitted to "letting her down" - took to Instagram on Tuesday night to release a lengthy statement. Adam - who was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones on BBC 's Strictly in 2021 - posted a message alongside a sweet photo with their two-year-old son George.

In the message, he admitted that the two have gone their separate ways as the infamous Strictly curse strikes again. Budding fans of the show often have their eyes peeled for signs of the ‘Strictly Curse’ taking place - otherwise recognised as the show's ability to split up couples as celebs form relationships with their pros instead. In 2018, dancing pro Katya fell foul of ‘the curse’, after being caught kissing dance partner Seann Walsh.

Adam, 27, said in his post: "I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years.

"Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down."

Originally meeting on online dating app Tinder, the couple fell pregnant just two months later and welcomed a boy in September 2020.

One year later, Adam joined the line-up for the competition show Strictly Come Dancing.

Adam's appearances on the show left fans in uproar after a particular episode where he and Katya did their Argentinian Tango.

Footage appeared to show that the Olympian seemingly leaned in to kiss Katya live on TV and the pair became the talk of the Saturday night episode following their dance to Fleetwood Mac track, Tango In The Night.

At the time, Eiri seemingly laughed off suggestions from Strictly fans that he nearly kissed his pro partner .

The intense routine required the couple to sell a passionate love story to the audience, with Adam repeatedly lifting Katya over his head and holding her close to him.

In the final moments, as the track finished, the pair stared into each other's eyes and their faces were only inches apart.

As he snapped out of the routine, fans believed that Adam seemingly went in to kiss Katya before realising he was on TV.

Apparently, it didn’t go unnoticed by Eiri, either.

But while Twitter blew up in reaction to the ‘did they/didn’t they’ moment, Eiri was on over on TikTok, joking about the entire thing.

At the time of Adam's stint on the show in October 2021, Eiri had a lot to say about the curse in question.

The mum even shared her reaction on TikTok as Adam and dance partner Katya were shown on TV being close to locking lips.

Using the trending sound of a whining baby, Eiri scrunched up her face as if she was crying and wailing.

Above the clip, she wrote: "Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live tv… Finding out 10 million people also watched it live."

Eiri has previously used the same sound to show off about her relationship with Adam, posting another video three days prior where she joked about his increase in fans thanks to Strictly.

The mum recently took to Instagram to share an additional statement regarding the split alongside her ex partner.

She added: "This next chapter of my life is surely going to be a difficult one.

"I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating, or messaging. I have shared so much of my life, but for now, I am choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that."
