Adam Peaty’s girlfriend given apology for 'shockingly unprofessional' treatment during labour

The girlfriend of Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty has been offered an apology for hospital staff behaviour during her traumatic childbirth.

The 23-year-old gave birth to the pair's son George more than a year ago, but revealed in a TikTok video that the ordeal of going through emergency labour was drastically worsened by over-enthusiastic employees at Leicester General Hospital fawning over her Olympic star partner.

Munro said the treatment she received was difficult from start to finish in the video, and expressed her shock at the behaviour of the staff, MirrorOnline reports.

She said: "The paramedic is interviewing him the whole time [and] they’re calling him Lord Adam Peaty.

“And when we arrive the midwife is obsessed with him, she comes in after a lunch break and said, ‘I spent my whole lunch break Googling you.’

"What the f**k?

“Then, 20 hours into my labour and the whole room is just asking him, ‘What is it like being an Olympian? It must be so hard.’

"The day ended up being all about him. I love him, but come on.”

Leicester General have apologised for the actions of their staff, saying: "We’re sorry if some of our team were a little starstruck.”

Peaty and Munro met while she was a fine art student at Loughborough University, where Peaty often trained for his Olympic success.

Munro was unsurprisingly his biggest fan during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where Peaty added two more gold medals to his collection.

In a message of support during the games on Instagram, Munro posted: "I am so so SO PROUD of [Adam].

"I wish I could be there to support and celebrate these monumental life moments with my boo, I just have to hope he feels all the love we're sending from the other side of the world.

"We'll be watching from the comfort of our sofa at 3am in the morning - or rather the edge of the sofa!"

Peaty, who is 26, recently agreed to take part in this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.
