Adam Peaty leads London team in the new International Swimming League

Adam Peaty leads a London team in the new multi-million-pound International Swimming League.

The Olympic 100metre breaststroke champion was on Wednesday unveiled as skipper of a star-studded team for the 2019 series.

The ISL, backed by Ukrainian energy businessman Konstantin Grigorishin, will feature eight teams from Europe and the U.S initially with matches on both sides of the Atlantic.

The final is scheduled for Las Vegas in December.

The league will be closed to swimmers who have previously served drugs bans and Peaty said: "They (swimming's governing body FINA) are still not putting the hammer down hard enough when it comes to anti-doping.

"There are still people involved who dope and cheat and it's not enough to just keep saying it's all right because you've got your medal five years later - it's about waking up to that idea.

"There are still a few inconsistencies and a few matters to erase. Just because we've been listened to once, it doesn't mean there's not going to be more issues and it's about the opinions of the athletes being valued more."
