Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay break silence over 'deeply upsetting' family feud ahead of wedding

Adam Peaty has warned “there are two sides to every story” amid a “deeply hurtful” family feud ahead of his wedding to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter.

The world record holder made headlines after it emerged that many of his close family members, including his own parents, had their invitations withdrawn to the wedding ceremony and will not see the 30-year-old marry Holly Ramsay.

It comes after the swimmer was met by police at Manchester Airport when he returned from his stag do earlier this month, allegedly after he received threatening messages from his brother.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Peaty described how coverage of the family fall-out had been “almost entirely one-sided and in many cases, excessive and intrusive”.

He explained that reading reports and comments on social media had been “deeply hurtful and upsetting to read, especially given the false basis upon which we have been targeted”.

He continued: “What makes it worse is that it has been encouraged by members of my family.

“[My sister] Bethany, Holly and myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events.”

The Olympian said he was not asking for sympathy but “we just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story”,

The message was also shared by Holly Ramsay on her Instagram story.

The swimmer’s mother Caroline Peaty, 59, was not invited to bride-to-be’s star-studded hen do and is now banned from the marriage ceremony next month.

Peaty was then greeted by police following his stag do in Budapest, reportedly over fears he might be assaulted.

It is alleged he had received threatening messages from his brother - builder James, 34 - who was arrested last week on suspicion of harassment and questioned by police for two days before being released on conditional bail.

Peaty, 30, a three-time world champion and current world record holder, is due to marry Ramsay at historic Bath Abbey on December 27.

Many of Peaty’s family members, including his mother and father, Mark, have also had their invitations withdrawn for Boxing Day drinks with the Ramsays, the day before the wedding.

Mrs Peaty, from her Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, previously told the Daily Mail that she knew “it’s the end”.

She told the newspaper: “The message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.

“There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don't wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage, like your dad and me. The reason I’m speaking out is I want all this to end.”

Mrs Peaty explained she’s barely seen her beloved grandson George, five - with the exception of looking after him when her son went on his stag do earlier this month.

Peaty had the little boy with his previous partner, artist Eirianedd Munro, from whom he split in 2022, nine months after his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing. He met Ms Ramsay after getting to know her younger sister Tilly on the show.

On her way home from dropping George off with his mother in Birmingham, Mrs Peaty says she reached rock bottom after the Ramsays’ 25-year-old middle daughter shared snaps on Instagram of her hen party attended by the likes of Victoria Beckham at the exclusive members-only venue Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire.

“I was crying all the way home. I got home and told Mark that for the first time in my life, I felt I didn’t want to live.

“That’s how low this has made me. I’m a strong woman and I can get through anything, but this has broken me.”
