Adam Levine shows off massive full leg tattoo that took three days to finish

Adam Levine's new inking is complete.

The Maroon 5 singer, 42, who's renowned for his array of body art, unveiled the finished result on Instagram.

Running the length of his leg, it depicts waves crashing on a beach, the artists using only black and the colour of Adam's skin to craft the slick artwork.

Created by Nathan Kostechko,, the process took three days to complete - with day three, the shading, the most painful.

And despite the longevity of the process, Adam's most elaborate tattoo took a staggering six months to complete.

Starting out with a bare back, after half a year it was covered by a spread-winged angel-mermaid hybrid cradling a skull.

"Tattoos wind up being this strange road map or narrative over the years," he told People.

"They always remind me of this long, weird, awesome journey life has been."

The publication reported that Adam had his first tattoo - the dove of peace - after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

He's since become a canvas for tattoo artists, and has the word "California" across his stomach as well as "Tapas" in Sanskrit.

Adam also boasts an eagle, lion, and butterfly, and a hand holding out a rose reading "True Love."

He has full sleeves, mainly composed of more animals and flowers.

The singer tied the knot with model wife Behati Prinsloo in 2014, having been dating since 2012, and the couple now share two children.

They have two daughters, welcoming Dusty Rose in 2016 and Gio Grace in 2018.

Meanwhile, Maroon 5 made a comeback earlier this month with a collaboration with US rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

But Adam feels like bands are on the way out in the music biz, saying to Zane Lowe on Apple Music: "There's no bands anymore. I feel like they're a dying breed."
