Adam Lallana set to leave Liverpool in summer after six years at club

Adam Lallana is preparing to leave Liverpool when his Reds contract expires at the end of the season, with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly keen on a reunion.

It was Rodgers who signed Lallana, 31, for Liverpool in the summer of 2014, when the Reds handed Southampton £25million for the services of their captain who had helped them progress through the divisions including two seasons in League One.

Lallana has managed 175 games for Liverpool in his six seasons at the club, scoring 22 goals.

Often suffering from injury issues, the England midfielder has already played in more matches this season than in he did in both of his previous two, and he recently captained a much-changed Reds side in their FA Cup win over Everton.

When Rodgers was sacked as Liverpool boss in October 2015, Lallana quickly became a key player for new boss Jurgen Klopp as he was often trusted to lead the German's pressing game.

He played in the teams which lost the League Cup and Europa League finals in 2016, and was the man who came on for the injured Mohamed Salah in the 2018 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

More recently he's been in the squads that have won the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup, while he's made 13 Premier League appearances this season and scored the late equaliser at Manchester United in October that preserved the Reds' unbeaten record.

Rodgers was asked about potential interest in Lallana last week, with Sky Sports now claiming the Foxes have made an approach for the midfielder.

"Adam is a fantastic player and one I brought into Liverpool," said the Northern Irishman. "I have been aware of his talents since he was a young player at Southampton.

"He has done brilliantly [at Liverpool] and I'm sure he will be weighing up his options."
