Adam Lallana reveals Jordan Henderson change after Liverpool draw

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana has explained the tactical switch that targeted Jordan Henderson, which helped his side to a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds were 2-0 up after 30 minutes and could've had a third, but the Seagulls fought their way back into the game as they pulled a goal back before half-time.

Brighton then found their equaliser on 65 minutes through Leandro Trossard, assisted by Lallana.

The former Liverpool man has praised his team's belief to come from behind and explained a tactical shift that saw him keep Henderson quiet second-half.

"Fantastic game and I'm sure for the neutral it was a great watch," he told the Brighton and Hove Independent. "To go 2-0 down you think it is going to be one of those days.

"There was a momentum shift when VAR came to the rescue when we faffed around with it. We rode our luck a little but we had chances just before we hit the post as well.

"There was belief and we started playing and got the goal. At halftime we said to believe and second half was outstanding.

"We played the ball round the back and frustrated them. We changed tactically and I went man to man on Hendo [Jordan Henderson] because he was controlling too much first half."

Lallana received an ovation from both sets of supporters when he was substituted for Pascal Gross on 77 minutes.

The 33-year-old spent six years with Liverpool before he departed for Brighton following the expiration of his contract in July last year.

It was his first appearance at Anfield in front of fans since he left and he sent an emotional message to supporters after the game, describing the club as his 'second home'.
