Adam Lallana makes Premier League promise to Liverpool fans amid football suspension

Adam Lallana is sure that Premier League football "will be back with a bang" when it is right to resume, but has urged fans to keep things in perspective during the game's hiatus.

Football at all levels in the United Kingdom and across the world is still suspended amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with little sign that the game will resume on or around the Premier League planned date of April 30.

The suspension of football has led to calls from some, including the former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, to call for the current season to be declared null and void, thereby effectively denying Liverpool - who are 25 points clear at the top - a first league title in 30 years.

But Lallana isn't thinking about that right now, and instead is urging fans to stay safe.

"Obviously we've got to prioritise our health in this country and all over the world at the moment, Lallana told BT Sport's Early Kick-Off on Saturday.

"I think it's just given everyone and chance to have a bit of time to themselves, do a bit of thinking and give you a bit of perspective really on life. So if there are some positives you can take out of it then there will be some.

"It is very important that everyone stays safe for the foreseeable future and focuses on what really matters at the minute, and that's stopping the virus spread and being as safe as possible.

"I'm sure when the time's right, and if everyone listens to what the government are saying, then football will be back with a bang.

"Whatever route they decide to take I'm sure it will be an exciting one, as it always is."

Lallana is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, but is expected to extend his deal in order to take in the remainder of any extended campaign.
