Adam Lallana claims Jurgen Klopp will 'secretly love' Liverpool injury crisis

Jurgen Klopp will be 'secretly loving' Liverpool's defensive injury crisis, former Reds midfielder Adam Lallana has claimed.

The Reds' worries at the back deepened on Tuesday night when stand-in centre half Fabinho picked up a hamstring injury and had to be substituted in the first half.

With Virgil van Dijk likely to miss most if not all of the season due to his ACL knee injury and Joel Matip currently unavailable, Joe Gomez is now the only fit senior centre-back on the books.

Liverpool face a packed schedule of Premier League and Champions League fixtures before the January transfer window opens and there are concerns how the Reds will cope.

Former Red Lallana, who left Anfield in the summer to join Brighton & Hove Albion after six years at the club, was on punditry duty for BT Sport for the Midtjylland game.

During his analysis he said Klopp will 'secretly love' the injury crisis as he enjoys him and his team being underdogs.

Lallana told BT (cited via Goal ): "He won’t use anything as an excuse, he’ll say it’s the same for every team.

“He’ll say, ‘we’ve got the squad to adapt and deal with it’.

“He’ll meet the challenge face on, the lads will be in tomorrow and they’ll recover and he’ll pick a team to beat West Ham.

"Okay, it’s going to be a test but it’s a test that he’ll love and the lads will get together and help each other out.

“Coming from the underdog region he likes that. So there’ll be a little bit of him that will enjoy this test and he’ll be fired up for it.”
