Adam Idah and Jason Knight will be given every chance to play in Azerbaijan

Adam Idah and Jason Knight will be given every chance to play in Azerbaijan tonight.

The pair were isolating in their hotel rooms in Baku yesterday morning having missed training on Thursday night.

Their temperatures spiked but both returned negative Covid test results and were cleared to train with the squad at the match stadium last night.

Norwich City striker Idah started all three games against Portugal, Azerbaijan and Serbia last month.

Derby County midfielder Knight missed those games with an ankle injury but has also been a key man for Stephen Kenny.

The Ireland boss said last night: “There is no hint of any coronavirus at all. They're okay.

“We don't know whether they're strong enough to play so we'll have to see how they train and make decisions after that.

“They've passed all the relevant tests that they need to and in that regard, there's nothing to be concerned about.

“It's just whether they're well enough and feel strong enough to play.

“Adam is maybe further down the line than Jason. It came on Jason (on Thursday) before training so his is a bit later.

And stand-in skipper John Egan said: “We had two lads who were a bit ill but they have had the all clear now. Everyone is feeling good.”

The Sheffield United defender added: "At times like this it can be worrying so they took the right procedures and had all the tests so hopefully we have got a fully fit camp.”
