Adam Gase ditched his wife after child birth for a meeting with Peyton Manning

Jets head coach Adam Gase may have a football addiction that he just can’t control.

Gase has always been known as a football junkie, someone that just loves to lock himself in a room and watch game film and player tape. Even during the birth of one of his sons, Gase’s focus was still on football.

In an piece by Dan Pompei of The Athletic, the Gase family told a story about the day that one of his sons was born. Gase’s wife, Jennifer, was delivering their child by caesarean section and Gase told her to schedule the operation for 10 a.m. Why? Well, Gase was scheduled to meet with Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning at 2 p.m. for their weekly meeting.

“So they pulled the baby out of me and said, ‘It’s a boy,'” Jennifer told The Athletic. “They didn’t even put my organs back and sew me up before he’s like, ‘You good?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m good.'” He said, ‘All right then, I’m out.’  They said, ‘You want to cut the umbilical cord?’ He said, ‘No, I’m good.'”

Then, Gase arrived in the meeting room and waited for Manning to show up.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Manning said. “Didn’t your wife just have a baby two hours ago?”

“Yeah, but did you really think I was going to let you win this one,” Gase responded.

No one is telling Gase how to live his life, but couldn’t he have taken a break from football for just one day? Having a child is one of the most special moments in life, but his mind was locked in on football. Even Manning was stunned that Gase just left his wife in the hospital all alone.

Gase’s passion and love for the game of football is undeniable and his wife doesn’t seem to have an issue with it. Clearly, the man is all football, all the time.
