Adam Gase adds another former Dolphin to Jets’ roster

Adam Gase has added another former Dolphin to the Jets roster.

The Jets announced Tuesday that they claimed linebacker James Burgess from Miami. In order to make room for Burgess, they placed running back Jalin Moore on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.

Burgess was originally signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville in 2016. He made the Dolphins’ practice squad but was released in early September. Burgess finally found a home with the Chargers in November on their practice squad before being released a couple weeks later. He also made quick pit stops in Baltimore and Jacksonville before spending a year with the Browns. By the end of the 2018 season, Burgess was in his second stint with the Dolphins. He was just released by them last week.

The 25-year-old linebacker has primarily been a practice squad member throughout his two years in the NFL, but he did play in 17 games with the Browns. In those games, he had 55 total tackles, four sacks, three pass defenses and one forced fumble.
