Adam Forshaw's emotional message to Leeds United teammates as fans hail 'outstanding' return

Adam Forshaw has sent a message to everyone at Leeds United as he made his first Premier League start for the club against Leicester City on Sunday.

Forshaw has endured a tumultuous two years of injury problems but was finally rewarded with a place in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI in a league match for the first time since a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City in August 2019.

The 30-year-old had already made five appearances this season with recent cameos from the bench against Southampton and Norwich City, as well as featuring in all three of Leeds’ EFL Cup matches.

But none will have felt more special than yesterday, as he played 90 minutes and was voted as the man of the match by Whites’ supporters following a dominant midfield performance.

On his official Instagram account after the match, Forshaw posted an emotional message to mark a landmark day for both himself and his family.

He said: "A strong performance from the team and a point against a good side. We’re pushing in the right direction.

"On a personal note, it’s a game me and my family will never forget. I’ve worked hard to make this day happen again, but I couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone at Leeds United."

In the comments to his post, Leeds fans gave their reaction to his performance.

@talkLeeds: “We’re all so happy for you mate. Great performance today!”

@zacberrycloth: “Hands up… genuinely didn’t realise how good you are… so glad the club stood by you. We all benefit from that now! MOT.”

@jamesencell: “Outstanding today – great to have you back with us. You make things tick.”

@unfloreszega: “You played amazingly well, helping in the recovering, and giving clever passes (that no see was a gem)! Congrats you deserve all this!

@thombo1987: “You were unbelievable today, Adam. Delighted you got through the last two years. What a performance by yourself and the lads.”
