Adam Forshaw delivers positive injury update and outlines date for Leeds United return

Adam Forshaw has revealed he's closing in on a return to action but will miss the remainder of Leeds United's promotion push.

The midfielder has missed most of this season with a long-standing hip problem and hasn't featured for the Whites since September 28, a 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

The 28-year-old was a key member of Marcelo Bielsa's side last season, making 31 appearances amid different injury problems.

Despite the extension to the football season, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Forshaw has given an update on his hopes of a Leeds return.

Sadly, Forshaw will miss the remainder of the season but is only three weeks away from a return to full training and is targetting to be fully fit for the start of Leeds' pre-season.

"Brilliant, really well (the rehab). I'm probably two, three weeks away from being in full training with the team," Forshaw told LUTV ahead of his side's 1-0 win over Swansea.

"Unfortunately I'm going to miss the end of the season but in the grand scheme of things, I'll be ready to go with the team for the first day of pre-season if everything goes well."

Forshaw's absence has put a further importance on the fitness of Kalvin Phillips, with Ben White having to deputise in midfield whenever Leeds' star man has been unavailable.
