Bafta winning actor Adam Deacon has been sectioned under the mental health act, a court heard today.

Deacon, who appeared alongside Noel Clarke in Adulthood, was due to appear in court after being charged with affray and possession of a long bladed sword in an incident near the actor's home in Bethnal Green.

The incident happened in Hollybush Gardens, London.

The 31-year-old did not appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court earlier today because he was too unwell after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act, the hearing was told.

The hearing has been adjourned until 30 April.

The court clerk said: “This case was adjourned, I believe, on the 6th March and if you look at the charge sheet, the charges concern allegations from January 6 of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The actor, who is also a rapper, played firearms officer Robbie in Channel 4 police drama Babylon which was shown last year.

He is best known for playing main character Jay in the films Kidulthood and Adulthood.
