Actress Una Stubbs dies aged 84

Una Stubbs has died aged 84, her agent has said.

The actress, best known for her role as Aunt Sally in Worzel Gummidge, had been ill for a few months.

Una died surrounded by her family at her home in Edinburgh, her agent added.

The TV star became widely known for appearing in the film Summer Holiday back in 1963 before portraying Rita Rawlins in the BBC sitcoms Till Death Us Do Part and In Sickness and in Health.

She also played Miss Bat in the Worst Witch, and later appeared in Sherlock and hit soap EastEnders, among a number of other television shows.

Tributes have poured in on social media in remembrance of the late acting legend.

TV channel Gold said: "We’re all deeply saddened to learn that the magnificent Una Stubbs has passed away at the age of 84. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time”.

One fan shared: "Devastating to hear about the passing of Una Stubbs. I first saw her in the Worst Witch as the iconic Miss Bat. A truly talented actress who will be sadly missed".

Another posted: "She was a marvel at charades and an unforgettable #AuntSally in Worzel Gummidge."
