Actress Paula Williamson - who was briefly married to notorious criminal Charles Bronson - has been found dead.

The body of the former Coronation Street cast member was discovered at a property in Stoke-on-Trent earlier today.

Staffordshire Police confirmed Paula, 38, had died and her body had been found at a house in Gordon Avenue, Sneyd Green.

A statement from the force read: "A woman from Stoke-on-Trent who was found dead this morning (July 29) has been named as Paula Williamson, aged 38.

"Paula’s body was found in a house on Gordon Avenue, Sneyd Green, at around 7am.

"A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death but the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report is now being prepared for the Coroners.

"Next of kin have been informed. The family have asked for their right to privacy to allow them to grieve at this difficult time."

In June, StokeonTrentLive reported that Paula's whirlwind marriage to Bronson was set to be annulled.

She tied the knot with Bronson after she visited him in jail on numerous occasions.

The pair wed  in 2017 in a prison ceremony that Paula described as being 'like any other wedding'.

But the couple never had a chance to consummate their marriage behind bars.

Paula  asked for it to be annulled on these grounds according to a national newspaper.
