Danish-Italian actress and model Brigitte Nielsen, 54, has announced on social media she is pregnant with her fifth child.
Nielsen, who was married to actor Sylvester Stallone from 1985 to 1987, shared the news on her Instagram account, posting photos with the caption "family getting larger" as well as the hashtag #babybump.
The two posts show Nielsen posing with her hands on her stomach.
The model, singer and reality television personality began her movie career in the 80s with Red Sonja, Rocky IV, Cobra and Beverly Hills Cop II.
Nielsen is married to 39-year-old Mattia Dessi and already has four children aged between 23 and 34.
Her manager Luigi Balduini told People magazine that Nielsen is "pretty excited" and "pretty happy".
The news came as a shock to many of Nielsen's followers, who inundated the post with messages of congratulations.
"You give inspiration for me and my husband to be able to have a child at my age of 45. Because we want our family to grow. Lots of love and a beautiful safe delivery," one person commented.
But the images also sparked plenty of commentary on the actress's choice to have a child at age 54.
"She should be having grandkids not kids, sorry but she's only going to live to see her kids in her 30's if she's lucky!! Sounds selfish to me!!" someone wrote.
"Disgusting! Just because IVF is available doesn't mean one has to always take advantage of it. You're practically to give birth to your great-grandchild," another wrote.
Nielsen told Hello! magazine in 2008 that she wanted to try IVF to have another child.
