Daisy May Cooper snubbed the usual red carpet attire at the BAFTAs and came to the swanky event dressed as a bin.

The actress, who plays Kerry Mucklowe in the BBC Three series This Country, turned up in frock fashioned out of bin liners, made by her mum and two of her friends.

The dress was covered with rubbish, including McDonald's wrappers, and she accessorised it with a dustbin lid hat with a pigeon sitting on top.

Daisy, Best Female Comedy Performance nominee at the awards, also carried a tiny dustbin handbag.

She explained that if she had chosen to donate the cost of a dress to a local food bank.
