Actors, fans pay tribute to legend Ian Holm

Actors and movie lovers are mourning the loss of an all-time great on Friday, as The Guardian confirmed that Sir Ian Holm has died at the age of 88 from conditions related to Parkinson’s disease.

Holm has well over 100 acting credits to his name, but is best known for his roles in classics such as The Lord of the Rings series, Alien and Chariots of Fire. In 1998, Holm was knighted for his services to drama. Holm’s last on-screen appearance came in 2014, when he appeared as Bilbo Baggins in the finale of The Hobbit trilogy.

Fans and colleagues shared their remembrances of Holm on social media to celebrate his life.
