How actor Meggie Foster became a TikTok sensation with her political videos

Comedy that can make light of politics in a time of corona is in high demand, apparently.

So Meggie Foster discovered, when she raked in TikTok followers by sharing lip-sync sketches of political rifts between world leaders.

The actress and voice artist has spent lockdown producing comical videos in which she mocks politicians - from across the political spectrum - as well as royals and reality stars.

In one video called “Bedtime with Boris”, Ms Foster portrayed Boris Johnson reading George Orwell’s 1984 to Theresa May. The audio is taken from the Prime Minister’s “Stay alert” public announcement, and his predecessor’s infamous speech about social care during the 2017 general election.

Another hit video reenacted the Flint vs. Thornberry battle, as Labour MPs floundered to diagnose their general election failure.

"Diane Does Digits" recalls the painful efforts of Diane Abbott to quantify her policing policies on LBC.

Non-political figures are not immune from parody, as Meggie’s Meghan went to show in her interview about tabloid victimisation (though the real star of that video is the reporter).

And reality stars would be too good to miss, with old gems remastered, like Nikki Grahame’s tantrum about the lack of cornflakes in the Big Brother House, or the "David's Dead" drama from 2016.

Since her first TikTok video on March 26, Ms Foster’s spoofs have earned over 12,000 likes, building on her Twitter following of 47,000.
