Actor Les Dennis in Twitter spat after dad accuses him of swearing at toddler

Les Dennis has been forced to defend himself after a dad accused the actor of swearing at his young son.

The dad, named only as Rick on Twitter, published a tweet on Sunday saying he had met the star in Brewers Fayre in Warrington.

"What a disappointment!!!!" he said. "Refused to have a picture with me and swore at my 2 year old son."

But Les, who played Pat Phelan's victim Michael Rodwell on Coronation Street, did not take it lying down.

Retweeting Rick's claim, he said: "No you didn't. I am at home and have been all day. Don't lie."

And fans of the TV star have been quick to jump to his defence.

Tracy tweeted: "I'm actually scratching my head... are these tweets for real? Are they meant to be humorous? Why on earth would anyone WANT or THINK anything badly of Les Dennis??? I'm baffled and angry that a gent like Les should be subjected to this s**t. So confused and dismayed :("

And Sue Hodge added: "Will people please STOP attacking Les Dennis ! All round good guy , entertainer and completely affable !"

However, other Twitter followers jumped on the back of Rick's tweet with their own ridiculous allegations about the star.

Rich n famous tweeted: "I met him today too whilst cycling through the Chiltern hills. He let my tyres down. The swine! #disappointedwithlesdennis "

Another added: "I can confirm this story is true, I once seen Les Dennis at Silverstone he refused to help with a pit stop, and he swore at my pet kangaroo."
