Actor Jonah Hill parts with his celebrity-pedigree compound for over asking price

Oct. 29--Looks like buyers jumped at the chance to own comedian Jonah Hill's Hollywood Hills house. The place went from listed to sale closed in less than two weeks and sold for $3.65 million. That's well above the "Jump Street" actor's asking price of $2.995 million.

The updated Midcentury house was built in 1959 for actress Beverly Garland by her husband, Fillmore Crank, and designed by architect Richard Dorman.

Updated three years ago by architect Padraic Cassidy, the fresh-looking house is entered through a Zen-inspired courtyard. An open floor plan, glass doors and ebonized oak floors add a contemporary vibe.

A state-of-the-art screening room, a gym and an office are within the 3,660 square feet of living space.

Including the detached guesthouse, there are four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

The third-acre entertainment-ready yard contains a saltwater swimming pool with a spa, a barbecue area, a cabana and a sports court.

Hill, 31, starred in the 2013 films "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "This Is the End" as well as this year's crime drama "True Story." He bought the property five years ago for $1.865 million.

Garland, who died in 2008 at 82, gained a television audience playing co-starring with Fred MacMurray on the sitcom "My Three Sons" (1969-72). Her acting career spanned more than five decades.

Rona Passman of Hilton Hyland, an affiliate of Christie's International Real Estate, was the listing agent. Kathleen Ward of Exclusive Realty represented the buyer.
