Actor Johnny Vegas reveals amazing five stone weight loss at TV Choice awards

Comic Johnny Vegas may have used to joke about his frame but his staggering five stone weight loss at the TV Choice Awards meant he had the last laugh.

The actor and comedian displayed his newly slender physique in a Twitter pic back in the summer of 2018, and continued to show his frame off at the venue in London's Hilton Park Lane.

Johnny, whose real name is Michael Pennington, revealed in an interview on Loose Women last year that he had "changed his lifestyle" and had "not been on a diet".

He said: "I am very careful about coming on and celebrating weight loss because it makes other people feel bad.

The star was snapped taking selfies and flirting up a storm with women while enjoying a cigarette break.

He was sporting a black suit and waistcoat paired with a flat cap, looking smart for the occassion.

“I have not done a diet in anyway whatsoever. I have cut out things, it’s a lifestyle change - and not a drastic diet," he continued.

His wife Maia Dunphy recently opened up about their relationship after their brief split in 2018.

The pair announced they were going to part ways last year but got back together shortly afterwards.

Maia raises their son Tom in Dublin while Johnny is based in the UK.

She said: “Things are the way they always were. Life is complicated. People don’t understand it and try to put a label on it.

“It’s work. Myself and Tom were just over in London for two weeks as Johnny was filming Open All Hours in a studio there and it’s rare he’s in one place for that amount of time.

“It’s the nature of the business. You go where the work takes you.”

Johnny will appear alongside Jason Donovan, Sian Gibson, Sally Lindsay and Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page for Gold's series of Dial M for Middlesbrough.

It follows the ratings success of Murder on the Blackpool Express, which was Gold's most watched show ever.

The sequel show will air in December on the channel.
