Actor backs Lancashire paper's campaign

The Lancashire Evening Telegraph's "Turn it off" campaign is being supported by actor Ricky Tomlinson, the man who portrays telly addict Jim Royle in BBC1's The Royle Family. Tomlinson, who backs the paper's call for people to switch off the stand-by facilities of their electrical appliances overnight, says: "Don't leave things switched on, that means the television or the Christmas tree... switch off at the mains before going to bed."
