Members of the Stonehouse community are being called upon to be part of an event to act against climate change.
Locals are invited to share their ideas on launching the village's first ever Eco Festival which would take place in spring next year.
The event will celebrate ideas that can protect the environment, hoping to be a "catalyst for change" in Stonehouse.
Villagers are invited to a meeting at the end of the month to discuss the initiative and begin collaborations that will help shape the area in which the community lives.
Local activist John Young hopes to form the group which would galvanise Stonehouse residents to take action on lowering carbon emissions and make the area more sustainable and eco-friendly.
John has been involved in a number of environmental issues and is a member of the Dovesdale Action Group currently fighting the move of an incinerator being build at Overwood Farm.
He told Lanarkshire Live : "We can’t wait for governments globally to take the necessary action to slow the impact of climate change. It’s up to us!
"Across the planet people are changing the way they live, work and thrive as communities to create more caring environments that seek to benefit us all.
"We might not be able to change the decisions our national governments take, but we can change some of the things we control in our own lives and as communities that could change the way in which we understand nature and how we share in the resources it provides.
"Already new initiatives are being implemented and advanced in communities across Scotland and internationally to reduce carbon emissions and create more sustainable communities.
"That butterfly effect of individual’s ideas and voluntary action is spreading and Stonehouse should consider being a part of that global shift too."
Organiser will hope to have national organisations on board including wildlife groups who can provide workshops, stalls and interactive activities for locals.
Speaking on the potential organising of the Eco Festival, John added: "A community initiative to hold an Eco Festival can help to share ideas and create a greater awareness of the threats of global warming impacting upon our planet and our community.
"In the spring of 2022, volunteers and community activists hope to establish the first 'Stonehouse Eco Festival’. This would be a festival of ideas and opportunities to shape the community in which we live and encourage others to share and care for the environment.
"The event would seek to create an awareness of the national and local organisations that protect our environment as well as highlight the threats that we face if we don’t seek to protect nature and the species that ensure our survival.
"The event will also be an opportunity to be the catalyst for change in Stonehouse and what we can do together, or indeed as individuals, in playing our part to ensure our children have hope and not despair for the future."
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 28 in St Ninian's Church Hall on Vicars Road, Stonehouse at 7pm.
