Active love life and red wine among best ways to keep feeling young, say over-65s

An active love life and drinking red wine are among the top 40 things which keep you feeling young, according to new research.

The poll of over-65s also featured singing along to music, spending time with people younger than yourself and doing puzzles.

And when it comes to how you feel on the inside, the outside does matter, it seems. Wearing whatever clothes you like, treating yourself to a haircut and remaining physically active also appeared on the list of ways to stay sprightly.

The full list of 40 ways to stay young is below.

Eight in 10 of the 1,500 men and women questioned believe in the phrase ‘you’re only as young as you feel’, with 78 per cent claiming to actually feel younger than their age.

The research, commissioned by Fairy Non-Bio, found respondents felt on average nine years younger than they actually are.

Three quarters of those questioned put this down to keeping a positive mental attitude, while just under half thank a healthy lifestyle.

Older Brits think their physical appearance has a lot to say about the age they feel, with more than half admitting they’ve changed their style and clothing choices as they aged.
