Active coronavirus cases revised down in Hunter health district

HARD work across the Hunter is paying off, with the region's coronavirus cases revised down overnight.

NSW Health data on Wednesday revealed the region had 277 confirmed cases and 221 recovered patients.

The net result is 56 active cases in the region, down three from the figures released the day before.

Recovered patients remain steady, meaning three cases have been revised in the latest statistics which cover to 8pm on Tueday evening.

It is an encouraging result given the previous day's figures had marked a low in active cases since mid-March's peak.

Hunter health authorities have conduced 22,700 tests per 100,000 residents, with 1.22 per cent proving positive.

The health district had the fourth-highest number of laboratory tests behind southeastern, northern and western Sydney.
