Action taken against commuters who 'abandon their cars' near Livingston train station

Action is being taken against commuters who "basically abandon their vehicles" near a Livingston train station.

Police say they are stepping up efforts to deal with inconsiderate and illegal parking near Livingston North station following complaints from the public.

On Monday alone they issued nine tickets to cars parked on yellow lines, and they say they'll be returning to conduct further checks in the future.

Police sergeant Iain Wells said: "It is clear that some commuters basically abandon their vehicles at or near the Livingston North Railway Station.

"Due to the way they have parked it is a clear danger to pedestrians and other road users and I would like to appeal to motorists to be more considerate when parking, otherwise enforcement activity will target those who ignore this warning."
