ACT records 71 new COVID-19 cases

Demand for COVID-19 testing has pushed capacity in the ACT to the limit over the Christmas period. (AAP)

The ACT has recorded 71 new COVID-19 cases on Boxing Day.

Testing sites in the capital continue to be overwhelmed and as of 10am all clinics were at capacity.

Due to increasing exposures in health facilities, the ACT government has tightened visitor restrictions.

From December 26 no visitors to health facilities are allowed unless in exceptional circumstances.

Vaccination rates in the ACT remain at 98.5 per cent of residents aged 12 and over, the highest rate of any jurisdiction in the country.
