ACT reaches 10,000 negative coronavirus tests as no new cases recorded

Almost 10,000 negative tests for coronavirus have been recorded in Canberra.

It comes as no new cases were detected in the ACT in the past 24 hours.

The number of cases of COVID-19 in the ACT remains at 107 with just one active case.

Figures show that 103 had recovered from the virus while the death toll still stands at three.

ACT Health figures have shown more than 200 tests were carried out by officials in the past day, bringing the total number of negative tests to 9995.

Testing has been opened to anyone in the ACT with any coronavirus symptoms for almost two weeks.

The ACT's chief health officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said more test were needed to be done.

"I remind everyone who is showing symptoms, or believes they may have symptoms, to get tested as soon as possible," she said.

"The process is simple and easily accessible at a testing facility like the walk-in clinic at Weston Creek, or our drive through testing facilities at EPIC Showground.

"Testing as many people as possible is critical to giving us the best view of COVID-19 in the community and provides us with the data we need to move forward."
