ACT posts 1316 new virus cases, two deaths

The ACT has recorded another two COVID-19 related deaths, with 41 cases in hospital. (AAP)

The ACT has reported two new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing its total fatalities since the pandemic began to 18.

The territory also recorded 1316 new COVID-19 infections, with active cases now reaching 3257.

There are 41 people in ACT hospitals, including three people in intensive care, two of them on ventilation.

ACT Health said the two deaths involve a man in his 50s and a man in his 90s.

"ACT Health extends its sincere condolences to their families and friends at this difficult time," it said in a statement on Sunday.

The territory has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country, with 98.6 per cent of those aged 12 and over having had two doses.

Of those residents aged 18 and over, 28.1 per cent have received their booster shot, while 15.3 per cent of residents aged 5-11 have received one dose.
