ACT Policing have released an image of a man allegedly involved in an assault at Exhibition Park on Saturday and are seeking the public's assistance in identifying him.

The images show the man at EPIC Mitchell about the time of the alleged assault.

About 10.30am, an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the northern side of the grandstand as he watch the Summernats burnout competition, police said.

Police allege that after a short altercation with another man unknown to him, the 18-year-old was punched in the face. He required surgery to his jaw as a result of the alleged assault.

The man allegedly involved in the assault is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall, slim build, dark hair shaved on the sides, tattoos on his arms and neck, wearing light coloured shorts, white T-shirt and thongs.

Police believe a large number of people witnessed the incident, and are asking anyone who did so, and who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

Anyone with information or footage that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website and quote 7008552. Information can be provided anonymously.
