ACT police search for stranded driver

ACT police are searching for a driver who they say may have been stranded following a car crash near Uriarra Village on Monday.

The driver, a man believed to be in his mid-to-late twenties, was involved in a single-car crash west of Uriarra Village on a dirt road between Brindabella Road and Bullock Paddock Road.

Witnesses have told police the man ran from the scene of the crash.

While the man was reportedly sighted about 6pm on Monday on Brindabella Road, he was not able to be found by search and rescue teams.

An ACT police spokesman said a search for the man was carried out on Monday and Tuesday and was continuing on Wednesday.

Items believed to belong to the man have been found.

The spokesman said there are concerns for the man's welfare and it's believed the driver suffered injuries in the crash.

The man has been described as wearing black tracksuit pants, a grey hoodie, black jacket, black cap and red reflective Nike shoes.

Anyone in the area has been urged to keep a lookout for the man.

People with information have been told to call ACT police on 131 444.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, has not been seen since the crash on Monday.
