ACT is coronavirus-free as only active case recovers

The ACT has no active cases of coronavirus once again, as the territory's only case has recovered.

A foreign diplomat arriving from overseas drove from Sydney to Canberra where he tested positive for the virus a week ago.

That case, recorded on June 6, had been the only case in the ACT since May 2. There has been no community transmission in the ACT.

The man in his 40s and his family had been self-isolating at home and ACT Health said he was not a risk to the broader community.

More than 24,300 negative tests have been returned, with almost 600 of those in the last 24 hours making it one of the busiest testing days since the pandemic struck.

There have been 108 cases of COVID-19 in Canberra, 105 people have recovered and, sadly, three lives have been lost.
