The ACT government has committed $12.63 million to go towards relief teachers, COVID cleaning, ventilation, masks and psychologists for schools in the first half of 2022.

The funding will come from the ACT's $50 million COVID-19 Response Fund.

There will be $4.46 million to go towards daytime cleaning services. The government has also pledged $3.29 million to improve ventilation through capital works, CO2 monitoring, increased maintenance for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and to help with an anticipated increase in electricity bills.

There will be $2.92 million to cover additional relief teachers, $2.5 million for additional shade structures in playgrounds, and $1.5 million towards masks and hand sanitisers.

The money will also help employ senior psychologists to provide online counselling for students and staff, at a cost of $190,000.
