ACT goes 23 days without new COVID-19 case

The ACT has gone 23 days without an active case of COVID-19 as almost 16,500 people have tested negative.

Three hundred and seventy nine negative test results were returned in the past 24 hours bringing the territory's total to 16,468.

The ACT has had 107 cases of coronavirus. 104 people have recovered and, sadly, three people have died.

Restrictions are set to be eased from Saturday following an announcement from Chief Minister Andrew Barr outlining Canberra's staged return from shutdown measures.

Under the new rules Canberrans will be able to gather in groups up to 20 indoors. Cafes, bars, restaurants and clubs can serve up to 20 patrons per enclosed space and non-essential businesses including beauty therapy and cultural institutions can reopen.

As the new rules come into place the community is urged not to be complacent and to get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.
